I've been working with J2SE 5.0 for the past few months on some side projects and the new features are great. Yesterday I ran into a problem that wouldn't have happened if generics had been around for the past few years.

Tonight while Hurricane Charley approached Jacksonville I watched the parade of athletes at the Olympic opening ceremonies. I was interested in seeing the athletes as well as the reaction to the Americans, the Afghans, and the Iraqis.

Today tropical storm Bonnie spawned a tornado on the northwest side of Jacksonville and hurricane Charley is expected to pass through early Saturday morning.

Matt Drudge is reporting that Speaker of the House Denny Hastert will push for replacing the current income tax system with a national sales tax or value-added tax. Drudge reports that this will be a centerpiece of the president's domestic agenda in a second term.
